How Melissa Lost over 100lbs in a year!
One of the goals I have for my page is to share inspiration and I have to say, I’M INSPIRED!!
I want you to meet Melissa Paluch.
I’ve known Melissa for almost 20 years. Our kids attended school together. She always seemed so happy. Willing to do anything for anyone else which left herself at the bottom of her list of priorities.
This story will show that none of us know the internal struggles that those around us are facing; and that everyone has the potential to change their story.
I began reading Melissa’s social media posts at a time when her father was terminally ill. I felt so connected because I lost my mother to cancer and I knew firsthand the pain she was feeling. Very much like myself, she chose to take this pain and turn it into a positive life-changing experience.
Melissa expressed in her posts her unhappiness. The unbearable pain she was experiencing from the loss of her father. The physical pain she was in because of her various health problems and the medications she was on because of them.
It would’ve been so easy for her to curl up in a ball and let her sorrow take over but she didn’t! She chose to live! She chose herself and told herself “I’m worth it. I’m worth living, I’m worth loving, and I deserve to be happy.”
In July 2022, she began on this beautiful journey of self-love, health, and happiness. This journey was not about being thin, caving in to the societal pressures we face. It was about getting healthy and back to the amazing, beautiful, and vibrant woman she is.
She did everything right. She did not jump on the fad diet bandwagon or start crazy workout regimens that, when you don’t succeed, leave you feeling horrible about yourself.
She got up everyday and repeated her mantras. She reminded herself why she was doing this. She thought about her three beautiful children and husband who adore her. She reminded herself what her father would’ve said to her.
She started her journey going on simple walks with her son. As time went on, she increased the duration of her walks and after a few short months was able to walk a mile without feeling faint.
She became mindful of what she was putting into her body. She did not starve herself or deprive herself of foods she enjoyed, but practiced self control.
Besides her weight loss, she shared all of her non-scale victories (NSVs), like being able to paint her toes again and feeling confident wearing bright colors. The real victories, am I right?
As she got healthier and felt like she was ready, she added in some strength training. As of today, just a little over a year into her journey, Melissa has lost over 100 pounds and reversed many of her health problems, including her diabetes.
After being featured on Today and posting about her journey on social media, she has inspired THOUSANDS of people.
Thank you Melissa! Thank you for choosing to love yourself. Thank you for sharing your journey with the world and inspiring so many humans.
